The Pet System is a system which allows players to tame monster×s to become pets. They give special stat× bonuses to the player when they are cordial and loyal. There are several types of pets with varying levels of difficulty to obtain and to keep fed.

Taming

To tame a pet, you will need to have a pet taming item. Pet taming items are obtained through monster drops or special quests. To use one, double click on it in the item window. When you see the monster you want to tame on the screen, click on the monster. A slot machine will appear and you must click again to get a chance at taming the monster. If you fail, you lose the taming item and get no pet. If you succeed, you will use the taming item and receive a pet egg. The success rate is unaffected by stats, reduced HP× or by using the skill Provoke× (disputed - see talk page).

Hocus Pocus

Pets can also be tamed through the Sage skill Hocus Pocus×. This allows pets whose tames are currently unobtainable in the game to be tamed, with the risk that their food item may also be unavailable and thus must remain inside their egg.

Raising

Once you have obtained a pet egg, use a Pet Incubator to hatch it. To hatch the egg, click on the Incubator. Click on the egg you wish to hatch and it will appear.

The first thing that should be done is to feed the pet. To feed a pet, right-click on it and choose "Feed Pet." Only feed it when its hunger is at Hungry. Your pet will then make an emote, letting you know it has eaten. It should give you the /ok emote. If you continue to feed it, it will give the /hmm or /pif emote. Feed it again and it will use the /omg emote and die.

You can also rename your pet through the pet window. You can only do this once.

To return the pet into its egg, simply right-click on the pet and choose the selection. You will need an Incubator to hatch the pet again. You do not need to take accessories off the pet when you put it into its egg.

A pet is given a random number of intimacy points between 250–399 when it's first hatched. The higher level the pet is, the less intimacy it will begin with. Feeding a pet increases its intimacy relative to its level and hunger; higher level pets get less intimacy per feeding, and vice versa. A pet's hunger level is classified using the following terms: 'very hungry', 'hungry', 'neutral', 'satisfied', and 'stuffed'.

A pet’s intimacy decreases by 15 points when its owner dies. Intimacy doesn't decrease when a pet is returned to its egg.
